Description of Hodophobia
66Hodophobia
What Is Hodophobia?
Hodophobia is the fear of traveling. The most common form of hodophobia is the fear of travelling on airplanes. Others also can have the fear of travelling on trains and/or boats. Very rarely, the fear of travelling in even cars can occur. The fear can often be linked with the fear of the unavoidable association with unknown places and/or people.
Causes of Hodophobia
Little is known about phobias in general, though there have been some links between a parent's phobia(s) and a child's phobia(s). Phobias are often developed during the childhood and adolescent stages in life, but can occur after any tragedy. Most phobias are caused by emotional trauma (child abuse, rape, divorcing of parents, etc.). Some others causes can be environmental trauma (in the case of hodophobia, car accident, plane crash, etc.)
Treatment
There are currently no drug/medicative treatments for hodophobia, and there aren't medications available for most other phobias. The only currently available treatment that I personally could find would be some sort of therapy.
